On the streets…

Wandering the streets of Naples has been a fascinating experience. People-watching is particularly interesting, especially those piloting their motorbikes as they zoom along the narrow, cobblestone streets. I am a little reticent to photograph them, in case they fall off or worse, stop and punch me in the nose.

I have taken many photos of the graffiti, street art and political messages that lines every street. Some of it is certainly worth further investigation.

While I was taking one of the above shots, these guys (below), from a shop, were watching me and came over, wanting their photos taken.

The girls like buskers and enjoyed singing along with Tomow, ‘The One Man Band’. His repertoire is very much 60s tunes – Bob Marley, The Beatles and John Lennon but we also heard some John Denver – that are very cheerful. That drum kit on his back, he told me, weighs 15 kilos and he certainly was working hard to play the it with cymbals clanging.

Tomow had a very, friendly and good vibe about him. Lucy and I both had a moment of pure happiness together as we sang along which makes me reflect that his work, making people smile, must be very rewarding. His website history section reveals that he has been busking for the best part of two decades. It always impresses me when someone is committed to their own unique journey on the planet.
